Why We Swear By Raw Ingredients for Our Organic Hair and Skin Products

Next

Making  organic hair products for curly hair and natural skin care using all raw ingredients is truly a labor of love. It would be so much easier if our company decided to just use Flaxseed extract for our Flaxseed Gel or Face Masks, but we value the purity and quality of our products over mass production.

Making Flaxseed Gel

The vast majority of your store bought beauty products are not using raw ingredients and instead use extracts because:

  • It's more expensive to use raw ingredients
  • Production is more timely
  • Mass production is harder

Let's have a little chit-chat about why we're absolutely obsessed with raw ingredients over extracts in our organic hair and skin products.

First off, let's talk about purity.

Raw ingredients are like the freshest, most organic produce you can snag at a farmer's market. They’re packed full of all their natural goodness because they're minimally processed.

Think of it this way: when you bite into a fresh apple, you get all the juicy, delicious nutrients. Now imagine that apple was turned into apple sauce and then into a juice box. By the time it hits that juice box stage, it's lost a lot of its original magic.

Same goes for extracts – they just don’t pack the same powerful punch as raw ingredients.

By no means, is using an extract in a product harmful. However, it is misleading when products claim they are a Flaxseed Gel or a Rice Water product when in fact they are not.

Take a look at the above photo's product ingredients do you see Flaxseed Gel listed? You do however see Linseed (Flaxseed) Oil listed on the ingredient list. Mixing Flaxseed Oil with another solution is not a true flaxseed gel. Flaxseed gel is produced by boiling the seeds in water, until the gel is released from the seeds.

According to Cosmetic Chemist, Erica Douglass, if used at a high enough level in a product, extracts may have some functional benefits, but in many cases extracts are just used to enhance the natural ingredient story. (Source)

Each raw ingredient, brings its own unique benefits and personality to the table.

It’s like having a diverse squad of beauty besties that each bring something special to the party. 🥳💕

When we use raw ingredients, we're basically like mad scientists (in the best way possible) mixing up potions to create the perfect concoction for your hair and skin.

Using raw ingredients just feels more authentic and connected to nature.

It's like a little slice of Mother Earth blessing your beauty routine.

You know exactly what’s going onto your skin and into your hair, and there’s something super empowering about that. No hidden surprises or sneaky chemicals, just pure, unadulterated goodness. So next time you're pampering yourself, remember: raw is where it’s at! 🌿💖 Stay fabulous and keep glowing, queen! 👑✨
