Flaxseed Gel simplifies hair care by providing moisture, nutrients and hold for curls that last all week long. However, you must have the right recipe or you could have flaky crunchy curls or no curl definition at all. 

Use the right amount of Flaxseeds

A little goes a long way, but don't use enough and the hold will be too light. For our REAL Flaxseed Gel Product we boil 8 oz of whole organic brown flaxseeds in 7 Liters of Distilled Water and that is enough to produce just the right amount of hold. 

Add ingredients that enhance hold

We love honey because the natural stick it has helps to improve hold while also adding shine and moisture to hair. This is another ingredient that goes a long way. Our formula uses 2 oz of this lovely ingredient per batch.

The thickness of your gel matters!

Loose runny gel will yield softer curls and the curls won't be as long lasting as a gel with a thicker consistency. The thicker the gel the more firm the hold will be. 

You will also want to be mindful that thicker gel may get more flaky so to avoid that you will want to add lubrication to the formula. We like to use Vegetable Glycerin for lubrication, moisture and to add more shine to hair.

However, if you like to DIY flaxseed gel, using a good oil will work too; Olive Oil, Avocado Oil or Coconut Oil are all great choices.
